Chelsea defender David Luiz is in doubt for the clash having picked up a hamstring strain during his goalscoring performance against United last week.
The Brazilian centre-half is racing to be fit in time for the seaside trip, but could recover to partner John Terry at centre-back, while John Obi Mikel could also return.
Ancelotti may give Didier Drogba a chance to start after previously relegating the striker to the bench in favour of Fernando Torres and Nicolas Anelka.
The game will come too early for Yossi Benayoun, who has returned to training from an Achilles injury but is still short of fitness, while centre-back Alex remains sidelined with a knee problem.
Pool will be without influential captain Charlie Adam as the highly-rated midfielder completes a suspension.
Key forward DJ Campbell is also unavailable as he begins a three-match ban following his red card at Wolves.
