This coming Sunday February 13 I am traveling to Holland for 8 days of soccer. This trip was put together by St. Louis Scott Gallagher as an educational trip for our soccer coaches. A group of 10 SLSG coaches will watch youth teams train as well as see matches.
I have included an itinerary below this blog for your to take a look and see what the trip is all about.
I am super excited to be selected to go on this trip. It is not everyday that you get selected to go to Europe for a soccer trip. And this trip is all soccer. From the moment we wake up, we will be surrounded by soccer. Each day, we will go to different clubs such as Ajax (world renowed club which has produced world class players such as Patrick Kluivert, Dennis Bergkamp, and Edgar Davids) and Vittesse. We will observe different training sessions as well as see the different facilities of the clubs.
In addition, we will see some of the first teams train as well as take in some top flight games. One game in particular that I am looking forward to is Ajax vs. Anderlecht in the Europa Cup Knockout Stages. This will be a high level affair with both teams looking to advance in the knockout stages of this European competition. It will have the feel of a great European encounter and I look forward to seeing soccer of the highest quality. Hopefully, I will not be disappointed.
I will be updating my blog throughout the trip and I will provide a recap of everything that I have seen and learned along the way in Holland.

Welcome to Holland |
On the eve of my trip to Holland I have included a video of the former Ajax and Arsenal master, Dennis Bergkamp. Below is a video compilation of Bergkamp in action. He was one of the best. His touch, vision, and balance were of the highest quality of any striker I have seen play the game.
Enjoy!!!
Yours in soccer,
Matt
